GRANT SUPPORT TO UPSKILL REGIONAL SPORTS VOLUNTEERS

Empowering regional sports with a volunteer matching program to strengthen community connections and skills

The Centre for Continuing Education in Wangaratta, alongside Sport North East, has received a grant under the Victorian Government’s Sustainable Volunteer Workforce Program. This funding aims to empower regional Victorian sports volunteers through the Sport and Active Recreation Volunteer Matching Scheme. This initiative connects local job seekers, community members, and organisations with regional sports clubs to boost volunteerism and skills within sports communities.

Over the next 2.5 years, Sport North East will use these funds to establish a volunteer matching system, connecting volunteers to roles that suit their abilities and interests. The program will also create an online resource library to assist clubs and volunteers with templates, guides, and support materials.

The initiative aligns with the $60 million Regional Community Sport Development Fund, which supports regional Victorian sports infrastructure and community engagement. For more details on the Sustainable Volunteer Workforce Program, visit sport.vic.gov.au.
